Happiness is that elusive word that many of us never seem to find.
Do we even know what happiness is? To one person it could be winning the lottery and having no financial worries. To another it could just be being appreciative of the very simple fundamental things we have in life – food, water, family and good health.
Happiness cannot be found in another person or in a specific circumstance. We think we will be happy if we find the perfect partner or when we come into some money. We place our happiness in the future tense, always longing and hoping someone or something will bring our happiness to us.
What if true happiness could be found within ourself? What if the treasure chest was inside of us all along? It is surprising how many people don’t know how to love themselves or even like themselves and yet we live with ourselves our whole life, every hour of everyday. We can be our own worst critic or we can be our own best friend.
Happiness is an inside job and the only true way to lasting happiness. Why don’t we each day write down all the positive things we love about ourselves? You will be surprised at how many there are. Always focus on the positive aspects about ourselves and not the negative. Learn to accept all our flaws and imperfections; they are what makes us unique. Learning to love and accept ourselves just as we are is an invaluable tool to guide us through life and to be able to withstand life’s many challenges and tests.
If we all love and care for ourselves just as we are, imperfectly perfect, we will feel good on the inside and that is portrayed to the outside world. We bring happiness to others when we feel happy and so the ripple effect spreads not to just one person but to the world.
Be the change today from the inside out.
